Ronaldo and Blayke of the Cronulla Sharks are facing their fear of… sharks!!
Story
Hi team! Our names are Ronaldo Mulitalo & Blayke Brailey. We are professional rugby league players for the NRL's Cronulla Sharks.
You may assume by looking at us, that we have no fear as we play one of the toughest sports on the planet. But in fact we do have one very big fear – and that fear is facing other sharks- the kind you find in the ocean or the aquarium! (Yes we know that is incredibly ironic!)
On the 28th April we are completing a shark dive at SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium as a part of the Face Your Fear fundraising event, which raises funds for youth homelessness charity, Stepping Stone House.
The only way we would agree to do a shark dive is for a good cause, and this is certainly a very worthy one!
Our goal is to raise $20,000 for Stepping Stone House to help accommodate and care for young Australians who find themselves experiencing or at-risk of homelessness, giving them a greater chance to succeed in life.
Did you know that over 37% of all Australians experiencing homelessness are under the age of 25? That's over 45,000 children and young people, all unable to live at home.
The leading causes of youth homelessness are housing crisis, family violence, family separation and breakdown. Many kids resort to couch-surfing or living temporarily with other households and some are even forced to live rough on the streets.
Homelessness in general is a cause that we feel very passionately about, and is why we are participating in the 2023 Face Your Fear event.
Stepping Stone House's mission is to end youth homelessness. Will you help too by sponsoring us?
Your support will make a real impact on a young person's life. Thank you!
